we started the month out with crushed ice every afternoon.
she loved it.
it must have felt really good on her molars.
yes, two HUGE molars have made their painful entrance.
she now walks wherever she goes...i'm loving it!
walking with her to get the mail is the cutest thing...we stop to look at rocks, ants, airplanes, kids out playing, she falls a few times, and about an hour later we make it home from the mailbox.
peek-a-boo!
nate fixed some of our sprinkler issues...
we planted a few trees...
and had some curbing put in.
lots of couch climbing and gold beads around here.
and who can resist pictures of a cute little naked butt!
In between parties, visiting with traveling swedes, camping, and trying to keep my grandpa out of
the hospital (he is doing okay), we realized we were LONG overdue for a family
picture.
Here is our last group shot from
October 2007:
My grandma took this picture while we were in Hawaii.
We spent the fourth of July up at my grandparent's house in Kamas. It was nice to get out of the city and frolic out in the country. Yes, I frolicked.
Mabel had fun showing her great grandparents how she walks around like such a big girl! She also loved playing with grandma's vintage Fisher Price toys.
They really don't make them like they used to do they?
She did have to stop playing several times to make some very important phone calls.
This is Apple's latest...the i-Remote.
We were just hanging out when I looked out the window and saw a deer in the backyard!
My grandma said she saw 8 in the yard the other day.
Who needs Hogle Zoo, eh?
We ordered pizza for dinner from good old Summit Inn.
In high school we would have their breadsticks for lunch.
So healthy.
Mabel had her first pizza and cheesy breadstick...
she was pretty happy.
I gave Abby Kitty some behind the ear scratches and petting.
Nate and I rescued Abby when we were newlyweds living in a little basement apartment across the street from Sugarhouse Park. She was hiding in the rafters of our garage and wouldn't let us get too close to her at first. She was SO skinny! Poor thing was starving. She warmed up to us really quickly and you could tell she had been loved by someone in the past. We couldn't keep her and my grandma agreed it take her. It was a match made in heaven! Abby loves my grandparents, is treated like a queen, and is a great mouser!
Makes my heart happy that she has such a great life now.
After dinner we went on a walk down the road to see the llamas.
Best of Utah - Best Alpaca Yarn! Cool.
Most of the llamas were out to pasture so it wasn't too exciting.
Mabel hitched a ride with Grandpa on the way back...
she wasn't too sure of his sunglasses!
When I was a teenager I didn't really appreciate
how peacefully pretty Kamas really is.
I would love to have some land up there some day.
(caught a baby lamb in the middle of dinner!)
Getting snuggles from Momma and Daddy!
We went to Kamas Food Town to get some fireworks but they weren't permitted this year. So instead we got some pop-its and had our own "fireworks" show!
Mabel went to bed and the rest of us went outside to start poppin.
We each had our own 89 cent box.
We went all out!
WOW!
Then.....the GRAND FINALE:
It was hard to settle down after that CRAZY finale so we played some cards.
I won. By a landslide.
It was awesome!
this post is basically just so i can have a record of what we planted
(and what died) for next year.
read on if you enjoy ramblings about gardens. :)
freshly planted
{5.20.12}
spinach died first, then the snap peas (we had an abundant one pea harvest), then the cilantro, got about 4 strawberries then it died, and the onions were dying so I pulled them out. sadness.
front left are peppers...they look promising, and I planted some mint where the strawberry was.
{7.03.12}
the romaine and red leaf lettuce are doing well...
except for this CRA-AZY
romaine that I had to pull out.
romaine trying to be a redwood?
(note to self: don't wait too long to pick the lettuce or
else it's like chewing on leather)
tomatoes and cucumbers doing great!
then now
it will be nice to get a drip system in place (nate has been working on our sprinklers this week) since it's kind of a pain to hand water. i'm really excited for our yellow pear tomatoes...they taste like candy. going to have to do some research to figure out why so many things died. soil? heat? i'm already thinking about what to plant next season. more strawberries, more tomatoes...maybe a pumpkin? i think we will need deeper boxes.
