Tag: (game). An informal playground game involving chasing and touching.

1. If you could tell your teenage self something what would it be?
Jess: Make more videos
Nate: Listen to your parents

2. Did you do any extracurricular activities in high school?
Jess: Soccer, Cheerleading, Waterpolo, Senior Class President (you can call me Kelly from Saved by the Bell)
Nate: If you consider sluffing extracurricular or being in a rock band

3. What did you do in your free time?
Jess: Caused ruckus with friends, drank way too many slurpees, fried my brain with hours of MTV, and sat in my room scheming up new ways to spend every second with Nate.
Nate: Rock Bands, Soccer, Jess.

4. Coolest thing you did in high school.
Jess: Drove a tractor down Center Street.
Nate: Met Jess.

5. Did you have a boyfriend/girlfriend in high school?
Jess: Met Nate my Junior year---and now I'm laughing at Nate's comment below
Nate: Like the sands of the sea

6. Songs that come to mind...
Jess: Lots of Missy Elliot and all sorts of awful hip hop (I know, I know), Radiohead, Cake, Moby, Incubus, Abba, Matchbox 20 (played their CD over and over again my freshman year because Brody Lewis asked me out while one of their songs were playing), Romeo and Juliet Soundtrack, and Ida.
Nate: Quicksand, 9 Spine, Incubus, Think Tank, Piknik, Snapcase, Good Riddance, Goldfinger, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Intergallactic-skankin-turtle-trailertrash

7. If you could change one thing what would it be?
Jess: I would have taken a leave of absence my Senior year to taking care of my dying grandparents (geesh, that came out really intense)
Nate: I would have taken more advanced classes rather than carpentry and floral and greenhouse management.

8. What did you think you would be when you grew up?
Jess: I just knew I didn't want to be a teacher because that's what everyone said I should be (typical adolescent thinking)
Nate: A Rock Star living in New York

9. Picture of Self----Nate Senior Year, Me Junior Year

10. Craziest thing you did in high school
Jess: Rolled out of the beast while Aimee was turning left on Main Street in Kamas--the window knob and the door knob sure looked the same in that blasted car!
Nate: Ran naked around the baseball diamond at Barnes Park on various occasions--once hiding from the cops in the dugout.

P.S. Thanks for the tag Julie!!

The Perfect Summer Dress?

I have been on a summer dress hunt for about 3 years now. When we lived in Philly I found the most perfect summer dress at H& M --it had little blue and red flowers, darling cap sleeves, and didn't show my undies to the world. But I thought it was too expensive, and probably made by a 5 year old in Peru, so I didn't get it. Then I talked about it for days and days and Nate finally told me I should get it if I loved it so much. But alas, when I went back, they only had a size 0 and a size 99 left. So I contemplated buying the size 0 to wear on my pinky finger but decided against it.
Anyone seen any cute dresses out and about?

PLaYtiMe

This past weekend we were baby-sitting two darling little people, Emily 8yrs. and Ben 6yrs., while their parents were in Arizona. We had a busy weekend watching Emily's soccer game, bowling, swimming, going to the dinosaur museum, reading lots of books, and playing!

My ranunculus are blooming!

Fritz Update

Fritz's little toe is doing much better! We have been torturing him with antibiotics and foot washes twice a day and it looks like we may have a full recovery. Keep your fingers crossed because the loud vet said if it doesn't get better he will need surgery. Here are some pics I took of the boys today while they were outside frolicking and rolling in the dirt. Typical boys.

My poor baby Frittata

This morning when I was petting Fritz I noticed that one of the toenails on his back leg was red and looked really infected. I had to put him in a cat straight jacket to get a closer look. It was swollen and looked pretty gross. (and it smelled awful!! i actually just had a gag reflex when I typed that)

I took him in to the vet and he prescribed an antibiotic (that was $30!!!) and we have to give it to him twice a day (which is a two person job) and we also have to clean his toe the best we can and put antibiotic ointment on it.

Fritz was such a trooper and was very well behaved despite being in pain and having the loudest doctor poking at him.

So when we got home he went straight for his food bowl and I let him eat for awhile while I tried to devise a plan to clean his toe. I first tried to let him lay in a favorite spot of his (the office chair) while I gently tried to clean it with a warm washcloth. That worked for about 5 seconds. Then I decided to put him in the football hold so he couldn't escape. Well that worked for about 30 seconds until I couldn't control the squirming and he went flying out of my arms. I was able to get a little Neosporin on that he licked off shortly after. I am going to wait for Nate to get home before I attempt again. My poor baby boy!!

Sobrinas y Sobrinos

All it takes is a birthday cake to get my nieces and nephews to be your new bestest friend. It was Grandma Gayle's birthday Sunday so she got the lovely experieces of having 5 great-grandkids help her blow out her candles. It was pretty cute.
(pic 2: Left to Right- Brenna, Kenny, JJ, Morgan, Katie)

Snapped this shot of Katie as she patiently waited for me to bounce her on the trampoline. She didn't quite grasp the "crack the egg" concept so we went for "salt the slug" instead.
Note to self: Never take 3 children under the age of 4 on the trampoline again. Even if they beg you. It's an anxiety attack waiting to happen.

Mumma's Day

I made chocolate covered strawberries for Mother's Day and they were quite delicious! Georgia kept asking my if I really made them. I even drizzled some white chocolate over them--for that professional look--but forgot to get a picture of the finished product. (Mom-I will have to make you your own special batch when you come out here :)

Silverado

Nate and I spent a few days this weekend up in Park City at the Silverado Lodge. It was a beautiful condo and it was so nice to relax and be lazy!

Hooray for Spring!

Tonight we ate dinner outside at our new little table and chairs. All bargain finds from Abode that just needed a little TLC and some butter creme spray paint.
The giant ant (also from Abode) I got because when I saw it I immediately screamed, "THEM!" and thought of my dad.

Fritters...

Fritz loves to be in things....grocery sacks, suitcases, the plastic tub we use for our recycling, drawers, boxes, etc. I was trying to put all my old photos in this cute box I got from Ikea and Fritz thought it would be fun to hang out in it. Which was really cute until he fell asleep and didn't want to move. Who can disturb the most darling squished cat face?

The English Language

Found this while organizing the office today. My Ethnic Minority Families' teacher gave it to me a couple years ago. You have to click on the image to actually be able to read it.

Saturday Morning Market @ Abode

We had our first outdoor Market of the season on Saturday and we had an awesome turnout--12 vendors with all sorts of great treasures! Several cool vendors from Etsy (check here for some of the outfits I want for the cats), a lot of people with vintage goodies, some great outdoor finds (I will post a photo of the chairs I got later), a lady with scentsy candles, lots of great furniture, and all sorts of little odds and ends. Plus the weather turned out to be quite lovely! Nicole and Elsa stopped in and found some decor for Elsa's room. Elsa was just chillin' in her Baby Bjorn and looked so adorable!

Saturday Evening

Lately I have been craving Edamame and so when I got home from Market I boiled up a batch, sprinkled them with some sea salt and Nate and I gobbled them up!

We decided to go for a jog around the park right by our house and it was rejuvenating to feel my leg muscles burning. I almost forgot I had leg muscles. The weather is finally starting to feel somewhat warm on a regular basis and I think we are going to be breaking out the rollerblades soon.

The water at the park was pretty ickus and I agreed with Nate when he said, "I bet there are human beans in that water."

If you are feeling the urge to get out of the Salty Valley there is no need to sell your first-born for gas money. Simply walk on over to the Southeast Supermarket on 422 E 900 S and you will feel as if you walked into a market somewhere in China or or Korea! (granted I have never been to China or Korea but throw me a bone)

The market was busy with employees stocking shelves, people bagging some green leafy vegetable I had never seen before, all sorts of humankind wandering the isles, and a plethora of smells wafting through the air. It smelled just like the Hilo, Hawaii farmer's market and I found myself thinking that when I stepped back outside I might just be back in Hawaii again. (PS. Mom and Kelsey: They didn't have any Melona bars so my quest continues.)

So basically in 15 short minutes I fell in love with the Southeast Market and plan on finding recipes that will cause me to have to venture there much more often.

Although I couldn't read any of these labels, well practically all the labels in the store for that matter, they all looked like some variation of soy sauce....and they looked so happy all lined up in perfect organized rows!

Sunday

The Tew house is always fun: good food, good company, lots of game playing, and dodging
gummy bears.

Check out this picture of Georgia (Nate's mom) when she was graduating from high school---what a babe!

My guess is the pick up line she got the most was:

"Do you have a map?

No, why?

"Because I just keep getting lost in your eyes."
