First time sitting in the front of the cart like a big boy!

He loves the bath.

Fourth Quarter Commentary

2014 End of Quarter Mabelisms

9.01.14 She says "Smoovie" instead of Smoothie and "Eagle" sea witch instead of Evil.

9.10.14 (Nate and Mabel laying in her bed playing restaurant)
             Nate: Hi, what do you have to drink here?
             Mabel: Sorry, we are all out of drinks.
             Nate: Okay, how about dinner?
             Mabel: Sorry, all out of food.
             Nate: Okay, how about dessert?
             Mabel: Sorry.
             Nate: Okay, maybe I will just have some Mabel arm.
             Mabel: (tucking her arm behind her) Sorry, we are all out of Mabel arms.

9.29.14 Mabel was trying to say the word cactus to Kelsey and she kept saying "cackiss." Kelsey said, "You're silly Mabel!" Mabel said, "I'm funny too!"

10.04.14 In the middle of the night I looked on her video monitor and saw that she was completely out of her covers and turned the opposite direction in her bed. I went down and covered her up and she woke up saying, "Thank you mama, thank you for helping me sleep."

10.06.14 (at Lowes)
"That guy has a witch's nose!"  (Great Grandma Naylor had been at our house a few days before and she said that a guy on TV looked like he had a witch's nose. Of course two little ears picked up on that right away!)

11.05.14 I dropped her off at dance and told her that I was going to Target with Elliott while she was dancing. When I picked her up she said, "Did you have a good time at the store?"

11.06.14 "Mom, you know what? I think I am ready to be a hobo." (What the?)

11.08.14 (I was about to get in the shower and reminded Mabel that she can only open the front door if she is with mama, daddy, or Aunt Kelsey)
            "If I open the door Jesus would be so angry."

11.13.14 Mabel: I'm hungry, let's get a snack at the store.
              Me: Okay, but we have to stop at the library first.
              Mabel: Okay, I will just swallow my spit.

11.13.14 (Reading scriptures at dinner, the verses that say Come Unto Jesus)
               Mabel: Me? Right now?

11.17.14 After putting on a new headband for family pictures she looked in the mirror and said, "Mama, I look like a bride!

11.21.14 (After having a pee accident on the couch) "Daddy will be mad that I didn't listen to my body."

11.22.14 (After watching the Tinkerbell with all the spooky rats)
Nate: Thanks for protecting me from the rats.
Mabel: It was my pleasure.

11.23.14 Me at 6:10am: You need to stay in your bedroom and play quietly until your light comes on at 7. This is too early.
Mabel: Okay, but I still love you.

11.27.14 (After Thanksgiving dinner we went around the table and had everyone say a person, place, and thing they are thankful for.)
Mabel said, without hesitation: "Kelsey. Rita's Water Ice. My family.

11.27.14 Nate missed the turn to Kristy and Dave's house and after hearing me say that he had missed it she said, "Accidents happen."

11.28.14 (At a restaurant waiting for the servers to come and sing to Nate)
"They have to sing to you daddy, you're the birthday boy!"

11.29.14 (She had a double ear infection and had to take antibiotics twice a day)
               "I don't want to eat it, it smells exhausting!"

11.30.14 (making a cup of peppermint tea together) "Mama, I will dance it." (move the tea bag up and down in the water)

12.01.14 I sprayed new mint kitchen cleaner on the counters and she came in, took a big whiff and said, "What is that smell? It smells like mint!"

12.02.14 We got in the car and she pulled out her fake phone and said, "I need to text Nana."

12.04.14 "I meeted her yesterday when I was a kid."

12.04.14 "I certainly want to watch a show."

12.05.14 "Thanks for this Anna and Elsa necklace mama. It makes my heart feel glad."

12.06.14 "Let's play Michael. Michael Polo." (She meant Marco Polo)

12.06.14 Mabel: "Daddy, do you know what I love?"
               Nate: "What?"
               Mabel: "Oak trees."

12.07.14 Mabel: I'm allergic to something.
               Me: Oh yeah, what?
               Mabel: You and brother.

12.11.14 (After playing with friends)
               Mabel: "Myla is so mean. She hit me."
               Me: "She hit you when you were playing?"
              Mabel: "No, last year when I was a baby."

12.12.14 Fritz and Charlie, our cats, were playing with each other roughly and Mabel told Fritz to be nice. He stopped chasing Charlie and Mabel said, "I gave him a thumbs up but he didn't do it back."

12.14.14 "Daddy threw me in bed and it hurt so bad that it made me so hungry." (No throwing took place.)

12.23.14 I was getting her dressed and put on her underwear and she said, "I don't bleed right? Not till I get older."

12.23.14 While playing the whispering game at dinner (who can whisper the longest) Mabel was excited that she was winning and whispered, "Daddy, I'm the whisperest!"

12.19.14 She put parmesan all over her spaghetti, took a bite and said, "Mmmmmm....that is ever so good."

12.21.14 "I hit daddy last year when he was a baby and I was the mama."

2015

 (I added what I had in the jar for January because when I get a spare minute to type I have to take advantage of it!)

1.04.15 She says "Toe Molish" instead of Toenail Polish.

1.06.15 Mabel to Elliott: "Buddy can you stop that sound? It's annoying to me. You're still my best friend."

1.06.15 (I asked her to turn on Elliott's light) "I just turned it up a smidge."

1.09.15 Mabel: What are those? (pointing to my forehead)
             Me: They are wrinkles that happen when I lift up my eyebrows.
             Mabel: They look like waves. Can I touch them?

1.11.15 (While watching a show.)
Me: Wow, that was a spooky Cheetah!
Mabel: NO! A Cheeto!

1.15.15 (We were snuggling on the couch) "Can I feel your lines?" (my forehead lines...nothing like giving me a wrinkle complex!)

1.15.15 (Mabel was helping Nate make macaroni and cheese and she was stirring)
Nate: It's kind of tricky to stir huh?
Mabel: You mean it's tricky to rock a rhyme?

1.16.15 (We saw a homeless woman holding a sign on the corner of the street.)
              Mabel: "What does her sign say?"
              Me: "It says that she doesn't have a home."
              Mabel: "She looks sad, maybe we could give her ours or maybe we could buy her one."
         
1.17.15 "I don't want to watch that dancing part because it gives me gas."

Christmas Round Two!

My cousins Anthony and Nick, both serving in the military, were able to come home to Utah for Christmas so we had to celebrate!  We had brunch at our house with my Grandma, Aunt Kristy, and cousins.

Nate typed up some Christmas trivia and everyone was 

VERY serious about it. The first place winner got a box

of bacon-pop!

Great Grandma Naylor got Mabel a new

Elsa dress, it even sings and lights up.

{CHRISTMAS 2014}

They both got to open jammies:

Mabel also got to open her present from Elliott,

Wishful's mama!!

(wishful is the little unicorn that she got as a gift

from our neighbor Nikki last year. it's the craziest looking

stuffed animal but she LOVES it.)

She gave Elliott a big squeeze!

How did he know she loved Wishful so much?

We also started a new tradition.

Each Christmas Eve in Portugal almost all families

eat the same thing for dinner: bacalhau com natas.

(Cod fish with cream)

We got salted cod from Market Street, let it

soak for 24hrs, and then Nate went to work!

His first try and it was delicious!

He must be part Portuguese. 

I like traditions that involve someone else 

cooking me dinner! 

After the kids were in bed we sat on the couch 

and talked. I love the glow of the tree, it's

soothing to me.

Before we open presents we always watch the Luke 2

video.  This year we watched another video as well, 

it's called The Nativity bible video. It was really good.

Nothing like a good cry to start Christmas morning!

You gotta love their Christmas morning face!

Even the furry kids got presents.

Even though they don't deserve them.

Baby's First Christmas!

We were so excited to wake up to a white (kinda) Christmas!

It was the first snow we have had that actually stuck.  Later

on it DUMPED snow and it was perfect for Christmas day.

Somebody likes their Ugly Doll!

Mabel got a sucker in her stocking...

...and she even shared a lick with Nana!

the theme this year for Mabel was definitely Frozen!

to our office chair. It is so nice!
