A Bit of Baking...

1.2. 3.
  1. Banana Bread Cupcakes with Penuche Frosting
  2. Banana Bread Loaf with a Cinnamon Sugar Crumbles Top
(Can you tell I had mushy bananas laying around?)

3. Made from Scratch Apple Pie (crust and all!) This is the first pie I have ever made, not because I have been afraid to try but mainly because I don't really like pie. A friend of mine was teaching a cooking class Saturday morning (it was free and she supplied all the ingredients) so I decided to go. Apple pie was the challenge and I think I am a pie natural. Took this picture right before I baked it--the cutouts are umbrellas but they sort of look like anchors. : ( Despite being annoyed that I chose umbrellas that ended up looking stupid I thought the pie tasted good (I prefer to scoop out most of the middle and just eat the crust) and Nate, who loves pie, said it was delicious.

Thought I would try these out since they were on sale at Smith's and I am quite pleased--Not very nutritional, but delicious! (Nate thinks they taste like burnt Ritz crackers)

Tagged

I got tagged! No, not in the graffiti sense. Although I do have the graffiti hotline number programmed into my cellphone. Called them just a few days ago because some lovely human decided it would be fun to spray paint two huge question marks on our rear carport. The question marks seemed a little amature compared to the other tags we have received and I was almost tempted to spray back, "I think it's time to go back to Graffiti 101!" Question marks? C'mon, you can do better than that.

Anyway, my mumsie tagged me to write down 6 things that make me happy:

1. Making Nate Laugh
2. Photography
3. Thrift/Antique Shopping
4. Creating Memories with Family & Friends
5. Music
6. Eating (well prepared food in particular)

I tag Holly and Charity.

The Facebook Saga

Uncle! Uncle! Alright, I finally set up a facebook a month or so ago. My pseudonym was super tricky (thanks Camelot Mini Golf and President Bush) and I was content to happily chat with only one person---my cousin Aja. The facebook was set up so we could keep in touch (I love you Aja!) and I was perfectly happy with only having one friend. Mind you, I have a myspace and I was pretty into that for awhile but once I got into the blog world myspace was kicked to the curb. (except to keep in touch with my dad and now my little bro Tyler) I mean really, how many online networks can a girl have?
Anyway, so I must have had a serious brain fart when I set up the facebook because of course I used my pseudonym but I put in one of my real e-mail addresses. Little did I know that people could find me with my e-mail!!! Not like a zillion people found me but I sure thought it was odd when a friend request popped up from my neighbor. My facebook was supposed to be secret, I could log in here and there and say hi to Aja and then log out without feeling guilty about not adding a friend, or writing on anyone elses wall. (of course none of this will make sense to my grandmother--love you!)
I don't know why but I'm just not into the facebook thing, and no offense to those of you who are because you are probably thinking you're just not into this blog, but I guess it's because I just can't be updating one more thing. It's the OCD that comes out in me and facebook is just one more thing that I would have to check everyday, put pics on, etc. because you know how annoying it is when you look at a blog, facebook, etc. and it's been the same for weeks. (and let me say thank you to Rebecca for posting something new--I now have all of Brad's family memorized)

Anyway, the whole reason for this story is because I laughed out loud at this article:

Break out the Neosporin

I can't remember the last time I had a skinned knee, so I guess I had it coming. Here's the visual: A tiny patch of ice right in front of the office where I work...I was carrying a stack of papers in one hand and a yogurt in the other, I was wearing a skirt, and there were two guys walking up the sidewalk who saw everything. (and of course they came to ask me if I was okay at which point I wanted the earth to crack open so I could crawl in it) It made for a great way to start the day!
