Farmer's Market

Last Saturday was opening day of the downtown farmer's market so we met up with the Dowdle's to check it out. It was awesome! We sipped fresh squeezed watermelon lemonade, snacked on organic snap peas & warm sugar roasted almonds, and I got a little bunch of Easter egg radishes. Addison was not liking all the people and when you would look at her she would go still as a stone and hold a blank stare off in the distance - it was so funny! I said hi to her once while she was eating some crackers and she stopped chewing and went totally still. She's got the stranger danger down!
We were taking my little brother Jacob to the airport later that day (he had been at EFY all week) so he came to the market too. He and I thought the the "Thirst Aid Station" was such a great idea! Even a little water jug for dogs! Looks like there are going to be a lot of great booths this summer. Lots of fresh produce, local made bread & cheese, plants, art, and all sorts of homemade crafts. I picked up this cute post card at Nicole Larue's booth:

I plan to hang it on my inspiration board. (which I am hoping will be hung as soon as we get our office organized!) Let me know if anyone wants to get together and go to the market - it runs every Saturday until October.

Texan Time

Ashley was in town and we met up for a quick visit that was much needed! Julia is as cute as ever and besides being a total pro at all her animal sounds I think she is almost ready to start saying y'all! We stopped at a cute boutique that Ashley's sister told us about called Anna & Rose and then we dropped by Dear Lizzie for a sweet treat. We miss the Millers!

Etta James

Last Thursday night Nate took me on a surprise date to see Etta James in concert at Red Butte Gardens. It was such a beautiful night and we had a blast! We didn't know that you could bring food in so we went to dinner before. When we got into the concert everyone had coolers with all sorts of gourmet food! People had cutting boards out with rustic bread and imported cheese and olives, all sorts of cold beverages & organic looking fresh green salads. We are definitely going to bring the goods next time around! We were feeling left out so we got the most gigantic ice cream cones for dessert from a booth called Scoopology.

Quite the lovely setting!

Yum!

The view from our seats.

Etta was hilarious! She was a total sassy pants and would get up and shake it during every song! She and my Nana would totally get along. :)

For her final song she sang "At Last" which was our wedding song - it was fun to hear it live--she can sing soooooo low! (the video was taking a million years to upload so you will just have to imagine it)

Fritz the Fighter

Last week we had to take Fritz to the vet because he had an abscess on his cheek. He had a fever and was not a happy camper - especially when we got to the vet's office. He was growling (I think he remembers his last visit) and wouldn't get out of his carrier. They had to put him under to lance the abscess and keep him overnight! I was a wreck but I held it together until after I picked him up the next morning. Then I threw up, had a good cry, and realized that I am going to be a basket case of a mother someday. It didn't help that he looked like a cat from pet cemetery with half of his face shaved and bloodied.
He is doing much better now - the wounds are almost healed and he is on his last few days of antibiotics. He has been pretty annoyed that he can't go outside but the last few days he seems to have accepted the fact and so he mopes around depressed. Do they make cat Prozac?
We are hesitant to let him go back outside because the vet said that a bite on the face shows that he is very aggressive and isn't backing down. Maybe he will be aggressive enough to bully the other cats in the neighborhood for their lunch money to pay off his vet bill!
