Going going back back to Cali Cali...

We went to Oxnard,California over New Year's Eve to celebrate
my cousin Weston gettin' hitched!!

We flew because I would have to be paid large sums of money
(and I mean LARGE) to be trapped in car for 12+ hours
with two kids that don't sleep in their car seats.

Elliott napping on Nate before we boarded
our flight out of SLC:

She was pretty excited about the window seat!

He did really well on the flight out.
The flight home he screeched and squawked
and cried and was THAT baby
that no one wants on their flight.
His face sure is cute though.

My mom, Kraig, and Jacob had major
flight delays...then to make it worse,
there luggage didn't make it!
My mom was a really good sport about wearing
the same clothes for a few days, and having none
of her own make-up toiletries.
Elliott didn't mind - he was just happy to
see NANA!!!!

"Never gonna let you go...."

Kraig hooked us up with his sweet hotel points and
we were right on the beach! The first thing we did the
next day was go exploring.

It was record breaking chilly (they had snow in San Diego!)
but that didn't stop us from enjoying the beach.

I love it when babies fall from heaven!
It's even better when Nate catches one.

Kelsey was brave enough to get in the water!
So cold.

Baby's first time at the ocean!

Love.

Uncle Jacob caught a sand crab.

He was super curious about Grandpa Kraig's beard.
Who needs toys when you have chin stubble?
I need to start growing out my chin hairs.

This is what dark thirty looks like in a hotel
room with an early bird baby you are trying to keep
off the dirty floor.

Nate's dad was born in Port Hueneme!
This was a picture at the pizza place
right by our hotel.

We emailed him this picture:
(since they are on a mission, we edited
out bikini girl with Nate's head)

Pre-wedding chillin' at the beach house my Aunt
and Uncle rented that was just a few minutes down
the shore from our hotel.
I LOVED seeing my extended family!!!

The wedding was on New Year's Eve at 8pm.
We decided ahead of time that Nate would stay at the hotel
with the sleeping kids so I could go.
I was sad that we both couldn't go but it just
wouldn't have worked out with our babies.
They don't do late nights very well.
As in after 7pm they turned into pumpkins.
Evil pumpkins.

We rode a shuttle from the hotel to the wedding and I
got to sit next to my cousin Elizabeth!
Even though this is a blurry selfie of us I love it because
I miss her and I had a great time catching up.

(a little flashback)
Liz posted these oldies of us cousins:
Aja, Liz, Weston, Me
 Me, Liz, Aja

Weston and Laurie asked Arnold (my Nana's husband)
to marry them - he did GREAT!!
They exchanged vows as well and I loved part of
what Weston said, "We are not the same persons this year
as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing,
continue to love a changed person.  And that's what love is.
It's not only passion, but passion endured.
It is waking up every morning and saying yes, I choose you."
Beautiful right?
The first part was a snippet he quoted
from W. Somerset Maugham.

Best appetizers....

and a CHEEEEEEESE spread like you have never seen.
I was in heaven. Until I got some Limburger which is the
only cheese I have ever met that I didn't like. So stinky!

Since we don't drink alcohol Jacob and I toasted
with some appetizers - tomato soup shots!

CHEERS!

Beautiful bride ready to dance!

Some pictures Laurie posted on FB - their
photographer did a fantastic job!
Inside the barn:

Isn't this an awesome shot?
My Aunt and Uncle with their kids:
Aja, Eric, Kyle, Uncle Bruce, Aunt Cathy, Weston, Natascha, Brian
 I love this candid:

I came home before the clock struck midnight
so I could spend our "when we met" anniversary
with they goonie.
15 YEARS!
Isn't that wild?
We met New Year's Eve, 1999, at First Night,
in downtown Salt Lake City.
I loved that night.

More beachhouse time with my peeps:
Eric's beard was the BEST!
I printed this picture out and put it in Mabel's room:

We handed Mabel Nate's phone and told her to
take a picture of us kissing....pretty good
shot Mabel!!

Getting some tasty mexican food on our last day:

My mom snapped this picture of Elliott's
cute little face!

Beachin' it up one last time:

I didn't think Mabel would want to get in the water
so I left her suit at the hotel....but when she saw Kelsey
and Jacob get in she wanted to join!
So, undies.

Which eventually led to exposed cheeks.

Congratulations to these cute newlyweds!!!

Headed home:
Mabel loved wheeling her backpack through the airport
and I thought she looked so grown up and cute doing it.

This is after much wailing and gnashing of teeth
at the airport waiting for our flight home.
The two ladies sitting across from me said,
"He finally gave up?"

Unpacking is the pits but sleeping
in your own bed again is heavenly!!
