Sprained Ankle

Yesterday after scoring an amazing goal (it was even with his left foot!) and then assisting in making the second goal my soccer star sprained his right ankle. When I saw him go down on the field my stomach turned in a knot, and then when he didn't get right up I felt ill. He told me after that he heard a popping sound and just felt searing pain in his ankle. Two of his teammates helped him off the field since he couldn't walk or put any weight on it. We sat him in a chair and peeled off his socks and shin guards to have a look. It was already really swollen! I took him home and we got him all set up with the R.I.C.E. system.
Rest
Ice
Compress
Elevate
It's only been just over 24 hrs but the swelling has already started to go down, he can put weight on it, and it is looking much better. We are going to monitor it the next few days to get a feel for whether we need to go get xrays or not. Nate thinks it's just a bad sprain and nothing is broken. I hope so because baby could come any day now and I need my birth partner to be able to fully assist me!

I laughed so hard I almost went into labor!

Baby Product Tester

Fritz has been really curious about his sister's new gear and no matter how hard I try to keep him away his furry butt ends up testing out each item.

First it was the jogger stroller...

Then the cosleeper***

And finally the car seat.

Next we'll see if he attempts the Bumbo chair!!

***Cosleeper sidenote: So when we first got it Nate thought it would be best to let Fritz satisfy his curiosity and lay in it. We were thinking it was just something new that he would sleep in for a little while and then get over and move on to something else. (he goes through phases) So I covered it with a sheet and we let him sleep in it whenever he pleased. After a few weeks I realized he wasn't moving on! He loved it! So, I had to start telling him NO every time he got in it. (Poor thing! I'm sure he was thinking that Mom and Dad got him this deluxe cat bed and then all of a sudden one day they change their minds and he can't sleep in it. But it is STILL there tempting him. We should have just said NO from the beginning!)
Well, after a few days of telling him NO and shooing him out I could tell I was going to have to take things to the next level: THE SQUIRT BOTTLE. We have never used this with our boys, but I can't have him jumping in our little girl's bed anymore, what happens when she is actually in there?!! Not to mention the cat hair everywhere!
So I kept a squirt bottle on my nightstand and I only had to squirt him twice for him to get the point. He has only tried to get in it a few times since then. And when he did all I did was say his name and touch the squirt bottle and he ran. (and then sulked under the couch)

Easter & Birthdays

We celebrated Easter and birthdays over at Tew's house this year. Nate's sister Kristy turned 35 and his dad turned the big 60!

We started the day with an Easter egg hunt...

One hunt for the kids....and one for the adults!

Then we partied with good food, cake, and ice cream!

Pregnancy x Tew (or three?)

Nate and his siblings had some special gifts for Rick for his 60th birthday. Bryan collected photos from all of us and put together an incredible slide-show video with pictures of Rick all throughout his life. It was so fun to see so many great photos highlighting what a wonderful husband and father Rick is. (Georgia even scanned Bryan some really old ones!) Then all the siblings got up to perform a song that Kristy had written for Rick. Nate and Kristy played the guitars and each sibling took a turn singing one of the verses. It was really sweet and thoughtful. As you can tell by Rick's face below he was really touched!

BYU-Idaho Birch #205 Roomie Reunion!

A few weeks ago I had the chance to get together with my roommates from BYI-Idaho! It's almost been 9 years since we lived together at good old Birch Plaza Apartments.

We got together at Sugarhouse Park and it was so fun to chat, meet kids and husbands (Jessica Balls got married! :), and catch up on each others lives. Some of my favorite memories are the days (and late nights) we all spent together in #205!
