nine-eleven

We woke up to the flag flying in our front yard today.
Seven years ago Nate and I were living in Philadelphia.
One weekend we took the train with some friends to New York.
We walked to Ground Zero, the site where the twin towers once stood...
at my feet there was a note in a child's handwriting that said,
"We miss you daddy."
It made my heart hurt and I felt such a sadness for those
who lost their loved ones on that terrible day.
Remembering those feelings today and praying that those
affected will feel the love and support of so many as our nation reflects.
