Swedish Fish & Fritz
Dr. Larsen took one look at the lump and immediately said it was an abscess, and a bad one. She shaved around the area and it was huge! I felt like a terrible negligent mother to have not noticed it sooner. She said it was ready to open and it was right about that time Nate got there, which is a good thing because I really needed the support for when she cut it open. She gave him a sedative and numbed the area. We both stood there talking to Fritz trying to soothe him while the vet lanced and cleaned his wound. (I did really well at the time but had a mini-meltdown when we got home) She said that it was from a cat bite and for us to consider keeping him in at night since that is when they usually fight. Nate agreed completely, especially when we got the bill.
Poor Fritz! Then to make matter worse I left at 6:00am the next morning. Nate has been such a good dad!! He has been giving Fritz his antibiotics morning and night, applying a warm compress twice a day (which is so much easier than it sounds!), making sure he doesn't go outside, and just being a great nurse during his recovery.
Nate took him back for a check-up Tuesday and the vet said everything looked like it was healing really well. What a relief. Thank goodness for those nine lives.

TEA
TREASURES
Nothing satisfies the soul like a good day of junking. Grandpa poked around "The Barn" with us yesterday and then the three gals (minus Kelsey-boo for school) went down to Antique Row in Denver today. I cringed every time grandma said, "Oh, I used to have that, and I think it got put in the trash." Oh the trash and all the treasures it must have. Our loot for the day included a full set of alphabet blocks, 2 old potato mashers, some vintage skeleton keys, 2 cool old books, several darling dainty flower vases, and an old black and white of Old Faithful. My heart is still crying out for the vintage sock monkey that I just couldn't justify spending $48 on. Grandma says she has an old pattern for one and she is going to help me make one. I love people who can sew!

Ahhhh......Vacation
It has been so lovely to lounge around and relax with my family. I have had some time to catch up on what my favorite etsy sellers are creating, watch lots of blooper videos on youtube with my siblings, and start reading a new book. (homework? what homework?)
For those of you that know me well you know that I am fascinated by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I refuse to buy Ok! and US Weekly magazines, but I will definitely put on a wig and dark glasses and read them while waiting in line at the grocery store, especially if there is a darling picture of a Brangelina child on the front. Anyway, just saw the cover of W magazine and wished that Brad and Angie would invite Nate and me over to play catch phrase.
