Spending Time with Grandpa Naylor

Last week my Grandpa Naylor got really sick and had to go to Intensive Care for a few days. They ran some tests and found a mass on his liver...it could just be a bundle of nerves that have settled there or it could be something more serious. They will be doing more tests this week, however, they were able to stabilize him and he got to come home Friday night. The whole family was there to welcome him! My family from Denver was here, my Aunt Koreen, Uncle Kim, and all their kids and grandkids came from California, and my Aunt Kristy and her kids came up too. They had already planned their trip here before my grandpa got sick so we all piled into my grandma's small house in Kamas and enjoyed eating, playing with the grandkids, and just spending some quality time together and with my grandpa. My Aunt Koreen and Uncle Kim also have some property in Woodland so we got to hang out over there riding snowmobiles, running around after the dogs, and getting some fresh Woodland air! We are praying that my grandpa's tests come back showing nothing serious to be concerned about. We love you Grandpa!

Sick CatKid

Not doing very well...

The drugs...

All his favorite spots vomit proofed...

Last Tuesday morning Nate took Charlie to the Cottonwood Pet Hospital because he hadn't been eating or drinking for the past two days, he was acting super tired, and he threw up 5 times Monday night. After a blood test, x-ray, and ultrasound (and as Nate and I kissed our tax return goodbye) the vet determined he had an inflamed bile duct caused by gall bladder issues and an infection that was affecting his liver. They aren't sure if he just got a virus or if he licked antifreeze or some
other poison outside.

Because he had a fever and was dehydrated they kept him overnight to get an IV going and to monitor him. We were able to pick him up Wednesday night and I knew we still had a long road ahead of us when he still wouldn't eat on his own and would throw up every time we gave him his antibiotic. Not to mention that Fritz was totally freaked out by the way Charlie smelled and he would hiss and growl at him. The next two days were a blur of force feeding every two hours, cleaning up barf (after a week with a sick cat I have cleaned up enough cat vomit to last a lifetime) having to take multiple trips to the vet to get different antibiotics, an anti-emetic, then an appetite stimulant. When Charlie finally ate on his own late Friday night I layed on the floor next to his food dish and cried. The past few days he has been eating and drinking like a champ and is starting to get his energy back. He is sitting on my lap as I type this and he is almost 100% better - what a relief!

Xs and Os

I wish it were Valentine's weekend every day!

Started the love fest by opening a beautiful orchid
that Nate had delivered to my office on Friday...

and Nate was very happy about the Iron Gym
he has been wanting, As Seen on TV!
(i realized that I cannot even do one pull-up....not even one)

Then we had a tasty dinner at Rice....
(we suggest you go there)

Sunday we cooked dinner together, cuddled on the couch
and watched the Olympics,
and fed each other our homemade
chocolate covered strawberries.

I had a bunch of chocolate leftover so we started dipping whatever we could find...
blueberries--sort of slimy and not my favorite,
apricots-- tasty,
and Milano Mint Cookies--delicious!
(We made a few coconut choco strawberries too and they were sort of odd)

Hope your day was lovely!

Graffiti

Dear Gangsters,

Did you know that when you tag someone's fence it may make that person sad, angry, frustrated, and/or upset? It may make them wonder if you have a conscience, if you even think about how hard other people have to work to pay for that nice white fence, and it may make that person daydream about spraying mace in your eyes just for fun. It may also make that person wonder if you had a hard childhood, if you had to dropout of school and get a job to help make ends meet, and if being in a gang is possibly the only place you have ever felt loved. It may make that person go throughout their day thinking about all the people in this city and how so many intricate factors have influenced how they see the world. Dear Gangsters, I forgive you.

Dear Graffiti Removal Hot-line,

Thank you to whomever thought up your creation. Thank you for being a free service. Thank you for always coming within 24 hrs of a call and for taking pride in your job. I think you all deserve a hug.
