Fun in the Sun

 .kearns pool.
(right next to the olympic oval)
~keyrenter client/tenant appreciation day~

the kearns pool is pretty sweet.
i should say "pools".
 they are everywhere!
multiple outdoor and indoor with all sorts of bells and whistles.

this was daddy's first time swimming with mabel and she had so much fun with him.
wish he could come with us every time!

this diving platform is incredible.
sooooooo high.
that is me jumping off!
just kidding. i was way too scared.

i had to watch a few minutes of the waterpolo game...
made me want to get in and play like old times
(seriously, i used to play water polo.)

this bucket was pretty cool...
it would dump every 10-15 minutes. you knew it was getting full
because there is a bell attached to it that would slowly start to ring.
it would ring faster and faster and then SPLASH!

 .east canyon state park.
~ company boating party~

nate found an awesome beach-y spot
(i never even new east canyone existed!
it's up parley's canyon.)

my camera battery was nearly dead
so i only got a few more shots :(

taking a break from the water trampoline

mabel had a blast in the sand
and she went out on the boat too!

little carter even made an appearance!

Valley Palley

My dear friend Valerie and her cute little family were in Salt Lake Monday and they stopped by for a visit! Her husband is interviewing for a job here (they live in Logan) and we are crossing our fingers that he gets it.

Valerie and I were roommates for 2 years at BYU-Idaho.
We had so many adventures together...
Makes me laugh just thinking about all those crazy times!

(and yes, that Salt & Pepper get up totally won us the costume contest)

Love ya Val, thanks for visiting!

PS: Hey Valerie: We need to take the time to write down all our memories so when we are old and gray and can't remember much our grandkids will know we weren't making this stuff up!

Bushnell Reunion 2012 (plus some strep throat)

Last weekend we drove to Tropic, Utah to attend the 2012
Bushnell Family Reunion!
(Nate's maternal grandmother's side)

I was nervous about the 4.5 hour drive since Mabel and her carseat don't get along too well.
We picked out some new library books, I bought some new toys
AND

she had her own little supply of dum dum suckers.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
She had 3 on the way there and they each brought us 10-15 minutes of glorious silence.
(check out her amazing comb-over)

Only a few technical difficulties...
like the latch on our trunk breaking as we were getting ready to leave.
Problem solved with a bungee cord. CLASSY!

We stopped in Fillmore to let the babe run around...she did so much better than I thought she would. She didn't sleep, not even a yawn, but the drive actually seemed to go by pretty quick.
On the ride home she did really well until the last hour.  Nate and I sang every children's song we knew, complete with actions.  Mabel now is a huge fan of Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree. Every time it ended she would make the sign for more!

We made it! She loves daddy's soccer ball and insisted on carrying it everywhere even though she could barely see where she was going.

Home Sweet Home
Our cute little cabin:

Twin mattresses on each side and Mabel's bed in the middle.

c.a.b.i.n.s.

The bathroom/shower trailer...much nicer than a honey bucket.

Cleaning up after dinner:

The beautiful barn:

Sunsets were incredible.
The pictures don't do it justice.

Lindsey and Kristy were in charge of the
cool country store for the kids:

So much work planning, cooking, cleaning...
Georgia and Rick put in a lot of time and effort to make this reunion enjoyable!
A big thanks for all the hard work from Mae and Ken, Bryce and Deanna,
Megan, Kim and Jeannene (everytime I saw her she was washing dishes! good soul.),
Pete and Keela, and everyone else who made it such a great reunion!

There were lots of little dogs at the reunion.
Mabel was very happy about that!

Boot scootin' boogie anyone?

Volleyball

.Mabel's First Haircut.
her bangs were in desperate need of a trim
thanks grandma georgia!

before & after

cousins playing

Saturday night we had the talent show.

Nate's dad was the MC:

 Hoola Hoop Pro

Dog Tricks

Glow Stick Dancing

Singing
(Chelsea has such a great voice!)

Guess the animal sounds...great idea right?
(I missed the beginning...didn't have the camera ready)

Brenna and Morgan
Scottish/Irish Sword Dance

 Jenna and the bagpipes!
So cool. So loud. (in a good way)

Miss Myah was peeking over her momma's shoulder....

I wanted a picture with Nate out on this bench but he was very distracted
by a 2nd cousin who just got home from mission to Brazil. Nate loves it when there is someone else to speak Portuguese to! (although he prefers Portugal Portuguese, of course. :)

Plus my face in this picture pretty much sums up how I was feeling for most of the reunion. Barely hanging in there.  All I wanted to do the ENTIRE TIME was go back to the cabin and sleep. Hopefully I can make up for it next time around.  I woke up mild sore throat on Friday morning. Hurt pretty bad to swallow when I woke up Saturday but what bothered me more was that I just felt so weak, achy, and tired. Nate and his dad gave me blessing, I took some ibuprofen and a nap and by that night I was feeling SOOOO much better. I slept a lot better Saturday night but you should have seen my tonsils. Covered in PUS. Gross huh? Sunday morning I was a walking zombie and barely had enough energy to help get our stuff packed up. I went to Instacare first thing Monday morning and tested positive for Strep. Thank goodness for antibiotics.  Feeling much better now!
(I actually blogged about the last time I had strep in January of 2010.)
