Nana's House

We took advantage of some cheap flights and spent Easter
out in Colorado this year.
This was probably Mabel's last free flight since she turns the big TWO next month.
She has been on a plane 12 times in her short little life so I think
we got our money's worth!
Mabel and I flew out on a Monday and Nate flew in late Wednesday night.
(and he was SOOOOO sick. it was awful and we barely saw him for three days)

We usually have the best of luck on flights and ALWAYS
end up having an empty seat next to us for Mabel.
Not this time.
Mabel kept bringing her finger to her mouth saying, "Sssshhh!"

She is such a great little travel companion on the plane.
(Stickers, books, and we always share some ginger ale.)
However, you can guarantee this girl is going to poop
once we reach cruising altitude.
Never fails.
She is in the 95th percentile for her height and the poor thing
barely fits on the changing table.
Nothing like changing a diaper in the smallest space known to man.

Nana's house has all sorts of treasures and trinkets to look at.  Mabel especially loved this little music box that has a picture of
my mom and her two sisters on the top.
I think somebody might need a little music box for their birthday.

Mabel loved Nana's magnets!

My mom got Mabel this little Easter bonnet from the $1 section at Target.
Mabel wanted to wear it every. single. day.
Hat! She would say. Purple!
Her little voice is pretty much the best thing ever.

Of course the first grandchild gets extra special treatment!
Turtle sandwiches and bunny-mobiles.

My mom put the plate in front of her and she didn't even hesitate
before biting the ears off!
Then she looked back at it and starting making a "Whooooo" sound.
I looked at the ear-less bunny and realized it now looked like an OWL!!
I love seeing the world through Mabel's eyes.

My mom had our "Fun Schedule" all typed up and ready! We have found that unless we write down all the things/projects we want to do we end up forgetting.  We got a lot accomplished this trip AND had a lot of fun despite Nate being quarantined downstairs.  Poor guy.
(and mom, we WILL visit that zoo someday, i promise!)

Good times, in no particular order:

Slides and Swings at Paintbrush Park

Aunt Kelsey came to play too!

The last time I was out visiting we drove by this Pho (pronounced "fuh") place and I asked my mom if she had ever been.  She hadn't, but since that trip she got brave and tried it with some friends and loved it!  I have always wanted to try Pho so we knew we had to include a Pho lunch into our plans.
We all snuck away while Nate and Mabel were napping.

Soooooo tasty and full of flavor! I loved it.

Jacob and I got Boba smoothies too.
Weird little slimy chewy things those bobas are.
Like big tapioca pearls.

Playing outside in the back of "Ampa's" truck...

We went to Target to get Pedialyte and saltines for Nate and when we were checking out the cashier was wearing these bunny ears. Mabel thought it was so great and of course, even better since they were PURPLE! The lady took them off and said Mabel could have them.
Our own little bunny foo foo. :)

Dying Easter eggs:

Easter basket treasures:

Best bubbles ever created.
NO SPILL, easy for her to hold, stick doesn't fall in,
bottom unscrews and you can refill it.
Thank you Target, you changed my bubble life.

You get some serious sweet hook-ups when your Uncle works at Coldstone.
Mabel wanted to go visit Uncle Jacob every day.

My mom's washing machine died so we had a laundromat adventure.
(NOT planned in the fun schedule!)
Nate lovingly pointed out that I say laundrymat when the correct word is laundromat.
What kind of weird word is laundromat?
Do you do laundry or laundro? That's what I thought.
Also, I lost my hearing after 30 seconds of listening to Jacob's new subwoofers.
And he told me that wasn't even as loud as they could go.
Youngsters these days, geesh.

Swimming at the Rec center.
This summer is going to be really fun with this little fish.

This was Monday, the day before we left to come home, and Nate was finally able to venture out of the house.  Sunday morning he woke up, after 72 hours of practically living in the bathroom, and he was healed! And starving! He had leftover steak for breakfast.  He was able to go to church with us Sunday afternoon
and play games Sunday night.
I was glad I didn't have to sleep with Clorox wipes between us anymore.

Before we left town we had to stop for another ice cream cone!

Mabel loves spending time with Nana, Ampa, Uncle Jacob,
Aunt Kelsey...and so do I.
It's hard living far away.

Brio Buds BBQ

A few weeks ago we got together with our birth class friends...it's so fun to see all the toddlers playing (and trying to share toys) together, plus we have two new additions (Noa and Jesse)
and two more on the way!
Everybody is either pregnant with #2 or just had #2.
Needless to say Nate and I did not drink the water they were drinking.

Kirstin had been teaching maturation classes that week
to 4-6th graders so she had some great stories!

Two new additions Noa and Jesse.
(Mabel is happy to have some girlfriends now too!)

(Some of the gals met up at City Creek last month too)

Tracy Aviary

{3.15.13}

Last week Mabel and I headed to Salt Lake to visit with our friend Corrine.
It was such a beautiful day so we decided to go walk around Tracy Aviary.

This peacock was really strutting his stuff for the lady peahens!
(there were 3 peahens walking around too...and yes, they are really called peahens)
He would open his feathers and do this little shimmy while turning around...
it was quite a show!
The peahens weren't impressed but
Mabel, Corrine, and I thought it was the coolest thing!

So pretty!

We got there early and got the last 3 spots available to feed the Sun Conures.
It costs $3/per person and you get to go into their cage
and feed them a little dish of blueberries.
They are super friendly! Mabel thought it was pretty funny
that one landed on my head!

They loved Corrine!

Mabel was a little nervous at first
(they start chirping really loud because they know food is coming!)
but she was so curious and kept getting closer and closer.

I decided to let her hold the cup so I could try to take a video of her.
The second I handed her the cup a bird landed on her arm
and it totally freaked her out!
She has been talking about it ever since. This is how it goes:

Mabel: Tweet Tweet Tweet!

Me: You remember when we when to see the birds?

Mabel: {Points to her arm.}

Me: A bird landed right on your arm didn't it?

Mabel: {Makes a little fake cry sound.}

Me: Yeah, you cried a little because it was kind of scary at first
when the bird landed on you.

Mabel: Yeah.

Me: But then what did it feel like?

Mabel: Tick Tick Tick {and tickles herself}

Me: That's right, it tickled your arm when the bird landed on you!

Hopefully she isn't totally scarred for life!
(and I didn't get a chance to get any video!)

She also loved looking at the flamingos, the bald eagle, the HUGE condor, and the toucans. It was a lot of fun. Quite a bit of the Aviary is under construction right now so we are excited to go again when the new exhibits are all finished.

Happy St. Pats!

Nate and I got to cross a New Year's Resolution off our list -
we ran a 5k together!
I ran this particular 5k with a friend several years ago and it was really fun.
People aren't afraid to get in touch with their inner Irish
and there were some awesome costumes!

We ran behind this shaggy leprechaun(?) lady
so I had to get a picture with her after.
She said it got a little warm under all that.
And who doesn't love a creepy green guy?

Of course there was a piper!
Who needs Rhianna when you have bag pipes to pump you up?!

We finished in 32.28...
not too bad since there was way more uphill than I remembered!

{3.17.13}
On Sunday we had our friends the Walters over for dinner.
Unfortunately, we all wore green so there was no pinching that took place,
but we still had a great time!

I picked up a few paper plates, cups, and napkins from Michael's.
Their St. Patrick's Day stuff was all 50% off last week.
I'd say it was the luck o' the Irish in our favor! har har

Janai sent me a link to this cute rainbow fruit tray.
I made it and only ate a pound of fruit and "gold" in the process.

We had green pasta alfredo, green garlic bread,
and salad with green ranch.
Janai brought mint limeade, key lime pie, and some
green shamrock rice krispy treats.
Everything was green and tasty!

Erin go bragh!

{an afternoon at the park}

It's warming up around here...
even if there is a little bit of snow still on the ground.

Get outta my life winter!

.an afternoon at the park.
{3.02.13}

Big time giggles and grins on the swings!

Begging for more swinging.

She wanted a snack,
but didn't want to get out of the swing.

One of my dear friends from high school had a swing in her house.
(hi elisha!)
There is something pretty fun about swinging INDOORS.
Someday Nate and I want to have a swing in our house.

Dinner in K-Town

{february, 17, 2013}

Grandma and Grandpa Naylor with some of their greats:
(Datan, Jack, Mabel, Donnivan)

Enjoying root beer floats after dinner:

Mabel loved sharing some of my root beer float.
(then I had to go get another one because I think
I only got two bites of the one we "shared")

She looked so cute in her new polka dot dress from Nana.

I love seeing how happy this girl is when she is playing with her daddy.

My Aunt Koreen and Uncle Kim brought their two sweet labs over
and Mabel wanted to kiss and hug them really bad.
Of course every time she came close they would want to give her a little lick
and that would freak her out! Especially since their mouths
are right at her level.  I can't blame the dogs for wanting to kiss her cute face!

Here she is being brave and inching her way closer to Koda:

A little after party clean up with Nana:

Mabel and I spent the night so we could take my mom to the airport the next day.
My mom ended up getting really sick and started wearing
a mask because she was terrified of getting my grandpa sick! :(

Mabel liked sitting by my grandpa for breakfast.

When we got home I was unpacking our stuff and I brought the top of her high chair
in from the trunk and went to grab a few more things before I put it back together.
I came back and Mabel had climbed right in.
Feed me momma!

Baby Dolls: The New Fashion Accessory

Last week Mabel wanted to wear
her scarf,
her owl hat,
and her baby.
